Ali Ayache Represents Lebanon at The Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship and Scores High Amid Tremendous Challenges.

Upon their qualification to the Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC), Ali Ayache, Amer Haj Ahmed, two LAU MEPI TL seniors together with another LAU student were granted the golden opportunity to represent their countries in general and LAU in particular at the premiere Arab contest.

The seventeenth edition of the ACPC was held at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt from November 29 to December 3, 2019. More than 15 universities from Arab and African countries gathered to take part in the algorithmic programming contest. One of the contest’s rules and conditions was that every university is to be represented by a team of 3 members.

In adverse circumstances, Haj Ahmed could not travel to Egypt due to a force majeure and Ayash and his colleague had to fill the gap of the three-member-team solely.

Amid the difficult situation and the unpleasant condition, Ayache and his colleague managed to solve five out of the ten-set- problems they were given in less than 300 minutes, an immensely satisfying result which allowed them to rank 30 among the 100+  participants from other universities.

Albeit the recorded score doesn’t qualify the team to participate in The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), an exception might be made for the case of Ayache and his colleague to let them compete against international universities for this contest.

With his high level of determination and ability to absorb pressure, Ayache is proving that the road to success is not easy to navigate but with hard work, drive and passion efforts will be richly rewarded.
