Lyne Sammouri: A Rising Star in Lebanese Journalism

Lyne Sammouri, a MEPI Tomorrow’s Leaders Gender Scholars alumna (’22) and graduate of LAU’s Multimedia Journalism program with a minor in Public Relations, is making waves in the field of journalism. Her journey is a testament to resilience, academic excellence, and a relentless pursuit of her dreams.

Reflecting on her university years, Lyne faced immense personal and national challenges. During Lebanon’s economic crisis, her father experienced a critical health issue that left him with temporary memory loss. Yet, Lyne’s resolve only grew stronger. “Adversity can be the greatest teacher,” she shares. “It taught me to persevere and find strength in my passion for journalism.”

Lyne’s time at LAU was marked by amazing achievements. In her second year, she received the highest GPA award in Multimedia Journalism for the academic year and was selected for the prestigious Erasmus+ Exchange program funded by the European Union. This fully funded experience provided her with invaluable international exposure, shaping her worldview and enriching her journalistic approach.

Her senior year was another milestone, as her policy paper was selected for publication in the esteemed Al-Raida Journal. “This recognition was a defining moment,” she says. “It validated my efforts and showed me the impact of thoughtful research and writing.”

Today, Lyne is a noticeable multimedia journalist, presenter, and reporter for This is Beirut and Ici Beyrouth, two leading media outlets in Lebanon. Through her innovative segment, The Media Glossary, she educates audiences about the intricacies of media practices, while her on-field reporting captures key cultural, political, and social events.

Lyne’s journey, from overcoming personal hardships to excelling in her career, is an inspiring narrative of turning challenges into opportunities. “Journalism is more than a profession—it’s a responsibility,” she reflects. “I aim to inform, inspire, and contribute to building a more aware and empowered society.”
