By Raffi Chilingirian | July 9, 2026

Meet Khadija AlAbed Allah, a proud MEPI Tomorrow’s Leaders alumna (’25) from Syria who graduated with BS in Chemistry and turned her dreams into reality. Khadija became the recipient of the highly renowned Eiffel Excellence Scholarship, an award granted by the French government as a part of its scholarship program supporting top international students pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in France. With an acceptance rate of approximately 5% this year, her selection reflects outstanding academic standing.

While for many students living in a region of conflict and uncertainty may pose serious obstacles in studying abroad, for Khadija this award means receiving a great chance to continue her academic career and further develop her passion for chemistry and scientific research.

Her next career plans include a Master’s degree in Integrated Research and Advanced Chemistry of Materials at Université de Lille, where she will study innovative technologies that combine materials science, artificial intelligence, and sustainable green chemistry.

In one word, Khadija defines her achievements as resilience. This characteristic allowed her to pass all the necessary interviews, prepare demanding applications and move on despite all hardships of war and difficult situations she faced.

Khadija is grateful to the MEPI TLU program for all her achievements, noting that LAU stands out among Lebanese universities as the only institution offering specialized undergraduate chemistry research opportunities. She shared that the program “not only shaped my academic direction but also strengthened my leadership skills, confidence, and personal development. The program prepared me to pursue competitive international opportunities and persevere through five stages of interviews before securing the award.”

Khadija is very excited for this opportunity and she is very much looking forward to giving back to her community while continuing her academic journey.
