MEPI-TL Students Ready to Brave New Academic Year Amid Tremendous Challenges.

In light of the gravity of the series of crises in Lebanon, it seems impossible to pull Lebanon out of the pit. Yet, the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) and the Lebanese American University were determined to launch a new academic year for Tomorrow’s Leaders program to highlight the crucial role of education in nation-building.

In August 2020 LAU launched Tomorrow’s Leader Undergraduate program for the academic year 2020-2021 funded by The U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) at the United States Department of State welcoming 15 new scholars from Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Algeria, Morocco, and Iraq.

Additionally, and for the first time in Lebanon, LAU has launched a new Tomorrow’s Leaders Gender Scholars program (TLS) which is also funded by MEPI the United States Department of State welcoming 295 students from Lebanon.

Exceptionally this year, the new academic year for both programs were kicked off through two separate virtual orientation sessions in the presence of the US Embassy representative and MEPI Coordinator Mr. Andrew Doehler, Dr. Elise Salem Vice President, SDEM, Mrs. Dina Abdulrahman, Executive Director, LAU MEPI TL Program, Dr. Cathia Jenainati Dean, SAS,  and TL administration team.

During the intensive orientation sessions, students were briefed about the programs and course syllabi, TL team and program requirements, etc…

The Tomorrow’s Leadership program is scaling up the free access to education to underprivileged, high caliber students from Lebanon and the MENA region and helping the education sector in Lebanon mitigate the immense damage and suffering caused by the escalating crisis.
