Admission Requirements
These are LAU admission requirements.
- High School transcript for grades 10 and 11. We reserve the right to ask for grade 12 transcript.
- Official final diploma upon graduation (Tawjihieh or Thanawiya Amma, International Baccalaureate, Lebanese Baccalaureate, High School Diploma, GCE’s “A” and “AS” levels British system).
- English requirement:
Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in English by passing one of the following tests:- International TOEFL (Note that Institutional TOEFL is NOT accepted)
- SAT Evidence based Reading & writing
- ACT writing
- IELTS
- Duolingo English Test (DET)

SAT or ACT
a. Students with a Secondary Official Diploma that is equivalent to the Lebanese official Baccalaureate must submit SAT or ACT to be eligible to start at the Sophomore level.
- If the SAT or ACT is not submitted, students will have to start at the Freshman level (except for the School of Architecture & Design, School of Nursing, Biology, Bioinformatics, and Nutrition & Dietetics-Coordinated Program).
b. Students applying to the School of Architecture & Design or to School of Nursing or to Biology or to the Bioinformatics, or to the Nutrition & Dietetics-Coordinated Program:
- Cannot start at the Freshman level.
- Must start at the Sophomore level.
- SAT or ACT is required and compulsory and a minimum score must be obtained according to the Schools’ requirements.
- The minimum required score for the Interior Design, Graphic Design, Nursing and Bioinformatics, is 1000 in the SAT and 19 in the ACT, and for the Biology and the Nutrition & Dietetics-Coordinated Program 1050 in the SAT and 20 in the ACT.
c. Students with a Secondary Diploma that is equivalent to the American High Diploma must submit SAT to be eligible to start at the Freshman level. (As per the rules of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Lebanon)

Transfer Students
Transfer students will not be accepted but the University reserves the right to review files on a case by case basis.
All newly admitted students are required to attend the Byblos campus their first year and will have the choice to transfer to the Beirut campus their second year, if their selected major is offered there.
Diplomas equivalent to the High School Diploma:
- British system: A minimum of six subjects at the Ordinary Level, and less than three subjects at the Advanced (A) level, or less than six Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level subjects. The student should get a certificate from the school that he/she successfully completed grade 12.
- International Baccalaureate certificate with a statement from the school that the student successfully completed grade 12.
- Lebanese Baccalaureate
- French Baccalaureate
- Tawjihi or Thanawiya Amma
- International Baccalaureate Diploma
- British system: A minimum of six subjects at the Ordinary Level, in addition to three subjects at the Advanced (A) Level, or six Advanced Subsidiary (AS) subjects. Second languages are excluded.
* Students with the High School diploma or its equivalent are eligible to join the Freshman class.
* Students with official diplomas from the government or its equivalent are eligible to join the Sophomore class.
