As part of a generation that was born and grew up in an increasingly globalized world, we saw that the Arab world in general — and my country Libya in particular — only absorbed the negatives of globalization, both politically and economically, in almost every part of our lives. Yet at the same time, our generation came of age getting to know other cultures, seeing that the world is much smaller and more similar than ever, and that we can relate to the stories of others, no matter where they come from or what our cultural differences are. It’s our duty to build societies have their own identity but are also part of a bigger globalized world.
